Day One: St. George to Zion to Carmel Junction

Day One: 79.8 miles - 5,360' of climbing
Our 2008 gang at the St. George Abbey Inn, ready to start an incredible week of cycling!
Our lunch stop in Springdale - the gateway to Zion National Park.
Jesse dips his feet in the Virgin River at the end of Zion Canyon Drive.
Zion Canyon is 7 miles each way of pure heaven. No cars! Only bikes and propane fueled shuttle buses.
Cyclists aren't allowed to ride through the tunnel in Zion, so we shuttle everyone through.
The views on the North end of the tunnel are just as spectacular!
That's Checkerboard Mesa in the background.
